Choose a PDF and decide how to split it: pull out the pages you need into a new PDF, turn each page range into its own file, split every page apart, or cut it into equal chunks. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device, so the document is never uploaded, never stored and never seen by anyone else.

How to split a PDF

1. Press Choose a PDF file, or drop your file onto the box.
2. Pick how you want to split it (the four options are explained below).
3. Press Split PDF. One result downloads as a PDF; several results download together as a ZIP file.

Before you split, the tool tells you exactly what you will get — how many files and how many pages — so there are no surprises.

Four ways to split

Extract pages

Pull out just the pages you need into a single new PDF. Type them in the order you want them, such as 3, 1, 7-9. Useful for sending one section of a long report, or keeping only the signed pages of a contract.

Split by ranges

Every range you type becomes its own PDF. 1-4, 5-10, 11- gives you three files. Handy for breaking a scanned bundle back into the separate documents it came from.

Every page

Each page becomes a separate PDF, numbered so they stay in order in any folder.

Every N pages

Cut the document into equal parts — for example every 2 pages, when each customer's invoice is two pages long. The last part holds whatever pages are left over.

Writing page numbers

• Separate pages with commas: 1, 4, 6
• Use a dash for a range: 2-5 means pages 2, 3, 4 and 5
• Leave off the end to go to the last page: 8-
• Leave off the start to begin at page 1: -3

If you type a page that does not exist, the tool says so before anything is created.

Your file stays on your device

Many online PDF splitters upload your document to their servers to cut it up. This one does the work inside your browser, so the file is never sent anywhere. Pages are copied exactly as they are, so text stays sharp and searchable in every file you get back.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is split by your own browser on your own device. It is never sent to our server or anyone else's.

How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?

Choose your PDF, keep Extract pages selected, and type the pages you want, such as 1-3, 5, 9. Press Split PDF and you get one new PDF with just those pages, in the order you typed them.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate pages with commas and use a dash for a range: 2-5 means pages 2 to 5. Leave out the last number to go to the end, so 9- means page 9 onwards, and -4 means pages 1 to 4.

Why do I get a ZIP file?

When a split produces more than one PDF, they are packed into a single ZIP so your browser downloads them in one go instead of asking about each file. Open the ZIP to find the separate PDFs. A split that makes only one PDF downloads as a normal PDF.

Does splitting reduce the quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, not turned into images, so text stays selectable and searchable and images keep their quality.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not until the password protection is removed. The tool will tell you if the file is protected.

Are bookmarks, links and form fields kept?

Yes, for the pages each new file contains. Bookmarks point to the right pages, links between included pages keep working (a link to a page that is not in the file is removed), and form fields stay fillable with their values. Digital signatures will no longer be valid, because the document has changed.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on use.
