Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression is done by your browser on your own device. Your photos are never sent to our server or anyone else's, which matters for ID photos, signatures and documents.

How do I compress a photo to under 50 KB?

Choose your photo, keep Target size selected, and pick 50 KB or type any size. The tool finds the best quality that fits under that size and shows the final size before you download.

Does it change my photo's width and height?

Only if it has to. By default it first lowers the compression quality, and only reduces the dimensions when the target cannot be reached otherwise. If a form requires exact dimensions, tick Keep the exact width and height.

Why is the file a little smaller than my target?

Compression works in steps, so the result lands just under the target rather than exactly on it. The tool also counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes, so the file passes whether a website counts 1,000 or 1,024 bytes per KB.

What if my photo is already smaller than the target?

If it is already the right format and under the target, it is left exactly as it is, with no loss of quality.

Can I compress a PNG?

Yes. PNG files are saved as JPG or WebP, which are far smaller for photos. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white; choose WebP to keep transparency.

What sizes do exam and job application forms ask for?

Many Indian exam forms, such as SSC, UPSC, IBPS and NEET, ask for a photo of roughly 20 to 50 KB and a signature of roughly 10 to 20 KB, in JPG. Limits change, so always check the exact figures in your own form's notice.

Is my location data removed?

Yes. Photos from phones often contain hidden GPS location and camera details. The compressed image is created fresh from the picture, so none of that data is copied into it.
